Nineteen officers and 85 other ranks from the 4th Contingent of the Sri Lankan Aviation Unit in South Sudan were awarded with UN medals for their valuable and meritorious services rendered to the United Nations Missions in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) said that the UN medal awarding ceremony for the 4th Contingent of the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit (UNMISS) based in South Sudan was held on May 20 at the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit Hangar premises in Bor.
During the ceremony three Officers and 17 other ranks were also awarded with Certificates of commendation by the Force Commander and the Sector Commander in appreciation of their valuable and meritorious services.
Brigadier General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, the Sector Commander (Sector East) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In addition, Ms. Deborah Schein (Head of Field Office of UN) and Mr. Liban Hajji (Field Administrative Officer of UN) also participated in the event as Special Guests of Honour.
