The Attorney General has advised the acting IGP that riders wearing full face helmets could be arrested and prosecuted for violating emergency regulations.
Coordinating officer to Attorney General (AG) Dappula De Livera, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne told Daily Mirror that the AG has advised acting IGP C. D. Wickramaratne to act in this regard.
Accordingly, the AG has announced that motorcyclists who wear full face helmets can be arrested for violating provisions of section 32 A of the emergency regulations published in extraordinary gazette notification no 2123/4.
