The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said they would establish a sensitive and a people-friendly government from the General Elections on August 5 in order to find immediate solutions to the people’s plight.
Speaking at a news briefing held at the party headquarters, SLPP Chairman Professor G.L.Peiris said the new government needs to pay attention to the plight of the people and give priority to find solutions to them.
He said a new government of SLPP would speed up resolving of issues and crises resultant by the mismanagement, short-sightedness and incompetency of the previous Yahapalana Government.
“Our MPs back then supported the 19th Amendment to the Constitution due to the assurance given by former President Maithripala Sirisena that the 20A will follow suit in two weeks. Five years went by but no 20A was tabled in parliament,” he said.
He said the country’s diplomatic relations went into disarray due to the nature of the biased foreign policy adopted by the Yahapalana Government.
Meanwhile, Professor Peiris said a new SLPP Government will look into the issues related to leasing companies and unregistered financial companies which has resulted in people getting into difficulties.
