President Maithirpala Sirisena yesterday met the members of the Catholic Bishops Conference at their headquarters in
Rajagiriya yesterday.
Responding to a question raised by the journalists as to what the Bishops and the President discussed at the meeting, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcom Ranjith said it is not appropriate to divulge the details of the meeting.
However, it was confirmed that the higher ups of the government had ensured security of Catholics.
The meeting with the President took place prior to the media conference held by the Bishops Conference last morning.
