New land laws will be introduced soon replacing the traditional laws, Minister of Lands Gayantha Karunatilleke said over the weekend.
The Minister addressing the public in Matale said these new laws will replace the traditional land laws which have been existing in this country for a long time.
Citing an example he said the law under which the eldest male child in the family gets the land in the event parents die without writing a last will is to be changed, Minister Karunatilleke said.
Under the new law, land will be divided equally among all children in the event parents die without writing a last will, he said.
