The No-Confidence Motion (NCM) submitted against Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen is a baseless document, the All-Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) yesterday said.
While holding a media briefing at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute to brief about the ‘Muslim Society and Current Situation’, ACMC Northern Province member P. Jayathileke said all ten allegations mentioned in the NCM were lies.
If the minister has done something wrong, why did no one complain to the police or file a case against him according to the law of the country?
“None of these allegations can be proved. Even after the NCM was handed over to parliament, no one complained to police regarding Minister Bathiudeen. If the minister has done something wrong, why did no one complain to the police or file a case against him according to the law of the country? Two monks have complained against the minister but those complaints are baseless,” he said. The ACMC requested everyone to refrain from slinging mud at the minister for petty political gains.
“Especially we request former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to be alert on extremist groups that had been with him during his term,” Mr. Jayathileke said.
“Even if Minster Bathiudeen was defeated from the NCM, he won’t resign from his ministerial post. We will not let him to do so, because he had helped the Buddhist people and their religious places in the North more than the Muslims,” he added.
“He will definitely win the NCM. These allegations were raised against him because he did not help during the 52-day government. He would only resign if he had signed the letter of resignation vacating his post,” he said.
