Man arrested for cruel killing of pet dog

A suspect had been taken into custody from Udupeellagoda Hakmana for severing the tongue and killing of a German Shepherd Pet. This was informed by the Hakmana Police.

The suspect had committed this grave act over a quarrel he had with the owner of the dog.

The suspect (54) had been identified as an employee of the Survey Department. He was to be produced before the Deiyandara Magistrate courts. The Hakmana Police are conducting further investigations. (Yasantha Ariyasena)

Another cruel act on an innocent animal who is not guilty of any crime. sri lanka needs strong and strict animal welfare Act. The current Act is enacted in 1907 and revised partly in 1988 still not nearly up to date.
