Twelve people including nine suspects were injured in an accident involving a Black Maria and a lorry at Kaluwilapathana, Ambanpola yesterday morning, the Police said.
They said the prison bus was on its way to the Mahawa Prison from the Galgamuwa Magistrate’s Court when the accident occurred.
According to the Police the driver of the lorry had reversed the lorry onto the main road causing the accident with the prison bus, toppling it on the main road.
The driver of the prison bus, three officers of the Prisons Department and nine suspects were among those injured. They were admitted to the Galgamuwa Hospital. The Ambanpola Police arrested the driver of the lorry and took the vehicle into custody.
