Kap Planting ceremony will take place on August 2

The Kap Planting ceremony of the Kandy Esala Festival will take place on August 2 and the festival would commence on August 5, Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Pradeep Nilanga Dela announced yesterday.
He said that the first Kumbal Perahera would parade the streets on August 05 and the last on August 09.
He said the first Randoli Perahera would parade the streets on August 10 and the last on August 14 followed by the water cutting ceremony and the day Perahera on August 15.
He said the Police and the security forces would provide adequate protection to the large crowds that flock to Kandy during the festival.
