A meeting was held at the Mannar Divisional Secretariat on Wednesday evening (15) headed by Mannar Government Agent C.A. Mohanras, to work out a mechanism to prevent CORONA infected persons from India, migrating to Sri Lanka through Mannar. Senior police and security force personnel and health authorities attended the meeting. The navy explained the steps already taken to enhance security in the seas off Mannar to prevent illicit immigrants.
The police and health authorities stressed the need to create awareness among the fisher folk through divisional secretariats, on Indians attempting to enter the country as fishermen and to seek their cooperation to prevent it.
