Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Anil Jasinghe has issued guidelines with regard to the opening of cinema halls from June 27.
They were issued in response to a request made by Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs Ministry Secretary Bandula Harischandra.
“The Covid-19 pandemic is now under control. It is imperative to establish a systematic programme for cinema halls to adhere so as to prevent the re-emergence of the pandemic,” the DGHS said.
The cinema halls have been advised through the Cinema Hall Organisers, Cinema Hall Groups and the management of cinema halls and under the guidance of the ministry to adhere strictly to these guidelines. The cinema halls can be re-opened after handing over the declaration of consent completed by the head of the hall administration to the Public Health Inspector of the area, ensuring that each cinema hall adheres to the health guidelines provided. A copy of the same should be furnished to the respective Local Authorities.
The guidelines are also published in the official website of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.
