The United National Party has raised serious concerns of political victimisation against its members and supporters with some foreign envoys and has warned to take action against the government, a senior UNP MP told Daily Mirror yesterday.

According to the MP, UNP MPs have already met the "relevant foreign envoys" and have communicated their concerns officially.

With the UNHRC sessions also to be held in February-March, the Daily Mirror learns that the UNP is likely to raise their concerns with the UN as well.

UNP MP Ajith Perera alleged that while its MPs were targeted unfairly, thousands of their supporters had also been sacked from their workplaces without prior notice following the Presidential Election.

Perera said they had already raised these issues including the arbitrary arrest of Champika Ranawaka and Rajitha Senaratne with the international community while they have also informed them that to date there was no evidence to prove that detained MP Ranjan Ramanayake had directly interfered with the Judiciary.
