A section of one of the communities have no common sense and respect for laws. Law enforcing people are not present in these areas due to the fear of getting the decease. Simple truth

    Sha Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:13 PM

I think you are not aware who spread the decease to law enforcing people.

    Nuwan Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:18 PM

Hey smart guy, get your brain checked 1st before giving your knee jerk reaction to an article published to highlight a section of our community. This is Srilanka we are referring to, just remember that first.

Neville Gunasekara Thursday, 21 May 2020 05:53 PM

The donor was not patriotic enough to donate this money to the Civid 19 Fund. See what happened.

Sarath rahman Thursday, 21 May 2020 05:56 PM

@karu .dont talk bullshit.. There was child rapist in USA and who did it? All communities have stupid people. Why do you see everything with communal mindset? Think as SRI Lankan.

    Gayan Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:15 PM

Will telling the truth considered as racist in this case also?

Clau Eri Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:18 PM

Hope police have arrested the house owner if so ask him to pay the compensation to the deaths of the families. And to the injured people.

    S.H.Moulana Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:21 PM

Whoever defy the law should face the music. Now who will take the responsibility for these three deaths. They wanted publicity for this distribution and ended up with three innocent lives.

    Hari M Thursday, 21 May 2020 06:52 PM

Shows the desperation of the people in the country. Militarize the country more

ruzdi Farouk Thursday, 21 May 2020 07:06 PM

Allahu Akbar!! It's very sad that these kind of idiotic behavior is prevailing in our community. I really condole for those poor ladies who passed away by stampede and who were got injured.! It's clearly mentioned in Islam the methodology of distribution of Sadaqa. Ideally we should go to the poor and give it with utmost secret without harming the recepients self respect

    Hautaum Thursday, 21 May 2020 07:19 PM

The community believes only religious faith n holy words are given the way for their life than any country law

Mohamed Zahran Thursday, 21 May 2020 07:20 PM

The simple truth is in every community there are black sheep!!!!This is not unique to a particular community...............

Lord Wolfstein Thursday, 21 May 2020 08:03 PM

The greed of Sri Lankans is unbelievable.

    najeeb Thursday, 21 May 2020 08:07 PM

Being a muslim, I feel ashamed that certain individual practice things which are against the preaching in Islam. Islam clearly says "the left hand should NOT know what the right does". This individual wants to show off - and this what happens when you try to gain publicity.

    Grace Thursday, 21 May 2020 08:11 PM

There is a kind of people for whom money is more important then their health and life.

    Umagiliya Thursday, 21 May 2020 10:38 PM

The main problem is that there is no rule-of-law here. We have a president who has stigmatized democracy with no parliament and no courts in operation. How do you expect the masses to follow laws when the top don;t follow any?

dickie bird Thursday, 21 May 2020 10:40 PM

Distributing money onbehalf of Rahuman?? Another vote buying gimmick. In Islam, such person must visit the poor and provide discreetly. What is the ulterior motive of a distribution in this manner.

    Siraj Thursday, 21 May 2020 10:41 PM

Put this buffalos behind the bars

Ela kiri Thursday, 21 May 2020 11:06 PM

Being cautious about your health is a luxury of the rich, when you are dirt poor the situation is different so I won't blame those people who went after charity. And did I hear donate to government funds? I see another helping hambantota in the making

    CITIZEN Thursday, 21 May 2020 11:14 PM

THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AT THE PREVAILING TIME. MOST PROBABLY HE HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTING CHARITY TO THE POOR DURING RAMADAN. BUT THE PRESENT DAY SITUATION IS SUCH THAT ALL ARE RUSHING TO GET THE 5,000 THE GOVT PAYS. THEREFORE, THE RUSH OF PEOPLE TO COLLECT THE DONATION BEFORE OTHERS COULD GET. HOWEVER, THE DONOR IS SHORTSIGHTED AND WOULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED THE CROWD RUSHING TO GET THE CASH.VERY UNFORTUNATE

Andrew Silva Friday, 22 May 2020 06:46 AM

Unexpected events takes place every day. No one expected this rich gentleman to distribute money and no one expected this stampede. May the dead rest in peace and the injured recover soon.

    neil Friday, 22 May 2020 06:48 AM

Reading the comments it is very clear that even muslims pointing out the way money distributed is wrong. We should not jump to pinpoint the whole community.

    Robert Friday, 22 May 2020 07:37 AM

Getting people will not think about the circumstances bcos they are very poor but Giving Person have to think about the current pandemic situation. I knew the same house giving money and goods for their festival season. I appreciate his good thinking but if they would organized well this sad thing wouldn’t happened

WHO IS THIS GENEROUS PERSON ? SOURCE OF FUNDS ? DRUG KING? BLACK MONEY?

    Roshanaly Friday, 22 May 2020 10:07 AM

Citizen, you are more sensible. very good comment.

Moja Mohamed Friday, 22 May 2020 10:25 AM

you can understand how poor is the Muslim community in certain areas, even though the media is trying to give a different picture. this shows they were desperate to get this small amount. if government had treated them fairly without making them scapegoats listing to others nabhour. this would not have happened. they were traumatized by the media

    Ranjith Friday, 22 May 2020 10:46 AM

This has nothing to do with the community this shows how desperate and frustrated are the people without money and food when is this suffering going to end our country is cursed blessings are going away from the country and Gods are keeping away from srilanka first people have to be United for that we have to find anon racist leaders
