The administrative authority of the Kelaniya University has decided to re-open the Science, Commerce & Management and ICT & Technology faculties from Monday, the University Media Unit said today.
The university was temporarily closed except for the Medical faculty yesterday following a protest staged by a group of students.
University Director and Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe told Daily Mirror the University had resumed lectures on Tuesday (28) after the Easter Sunday terror attack.
After re-opening the university, its senior management had decided to close all sections including lecture rooms and canteens at 9.00 pm for the safety of the students.
However, a group of students staged a protest against this decision.
“The Social Science and Humanities Faculties will remain closed,” Mr. Rupasinghe said.
He said all students except those in these two faculties were permitted to come to the hostels.
Mr. Rupasinghe said all weekend lectures would be held according to the given time tables. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
