UNP candidate Palitha Thevarapperuma was hospitalized after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at Wekandala in Mathugama, Police said.
They said he was assaulted after an argument with some individuals of a company which had undertaken a project to lay water pipes at Wekandala in Mathugama.
The former MP was admitted to the Nagoda Hospital with injuries to his leg. (Bimal Shyaman)

Getting assaulted is uncivilized, but stealing public money without getting noticed or assaulted is civilized.
