The Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks had decided to summon several officials attached to the intelligence service to testify before it on July 24, its Chairman Ananda Kumarasiri said yesterday.

It was announced that the PSC would submit its final report to Parliament next month.

Mr. Kumarasiri told journalists that head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Ravi Seneviratne and Director CID Shani Abeysekera are among the intelligence personnel that had been called to testify before the PSC on July 24.

He said State Intelligence Service Director Nilantha Jayawardene has also been called to testify before the committee on the same day.

Deputy Speaker Kumarasiri said the committee originally planned to summon some of the intelligence officers today but later decided that it would be more convenient to have all of them testify on the same day. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

In theory Inteligence officers identity MUST be protected!!!

Lord Wolfstein Friday, 12 July 2019 10:23 AM

It should be strictly protected but they have to give evidence.

Not in SL. For the past few decades, they take pride in announcing that "they work for MI etc" . And NO not due to any PSC or anything. On their own will.
