Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Maduma Bandara yesterday invited the UNP to sign an MoU with the alliance and to contest the general elections in uniformity.
Mr. Maduma Bandara who made this request at a media conference said any party including the UNP were welcome to contest with the SJB.
“The UNP working committee had approved a resolution to sign an MoU with us. Therefore we invite them to come to an agreement and sign an MoU,” Mr. Madduma Bandara said.
He said it will be possible to contest under a common symbol to which both parties could agree to.
He also said the SJB had already informed the Chairman of Election Commission that it will contest the general election this year. (Yohan Perera)
