President Maithripala Sirisena criticised the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) at yesterday's cabinet meeting and stressed the need to sort out any misunderstanding the PUCSL had with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
The President told the cabinet that two government institutions could not quarrel in this manner and even threatened not to attend cabinet meetings hereafter unless the CEB and the PUCSL settled their issue. The PUCSL is reported to have decided to resort to legal action against uninformed power cuts. The law states that consumers have to be given advance notice when imposing power cuts. PUCSL is correct. Rural mindset. No competitive spirit. Do we need leader like this?
