Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama yesterday allowed the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to record a statement from IGP Pujith Jayasundara over a motor accident which took place at Rajagiriya in 2016.
Colombo Crimes Division OIC Neville Silva informed the court that the name of IGP Pujith Jayasundara had emerged in the statement given by former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, who is currently in remand custody.
After considering the request made by the CCD, the Magistrate issued an order directing the prison authority to allow the CCD to record statements from the remanded IGP Jayasundara at the prison between December 26 and December 30 regarding the incident.
The Magistrate also ordered several mobile phone companies to submit a report to the CCD pertaining to the mobile call details of mobile phone sim cards which had been used by former Minister Patali Champika. (Yoshitha Perera)
