The Police Narcotics Bureau and Special Task Force (STF) arrested a Pakistani national with over 2 kgs of heroin at a hotel in Kollupitiya yesterday, the Police said.
The Pakistani national, aged 48, had arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday (07) and prepared to leave for South Africa.
The Police said a detention order for seven days needs to be obtained and the suspect would be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today.

Given that we are a hub for illicit drugs, surely more effective detection should be enforced at the airport.

More reason why we should not have another international airport in the north- another gateway to the country for drug trafficking, which we struggle to control.
