The OIC Crimes and OIC Administration attached to the Fort Police Station have been interdicted on charges of circulating a fake letter to several hotels in Colombo concerning a security matter, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The Special Investigation Unit of the Police Headquarters launched an investigation into the letter circulating on social media.
Police said the letter had been issued to several hotels in Colombo on October 2 with the signature of the Fort Police OIC.
They said the letter had been issued without any confirmation from the intelligence unit.
