All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) leader and Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said yesterday they were not in a hurry to accept ministerial portfolios and said they would do so on a decision taken by his party.

He told media following an event in Colombo that all Muslim ministers resigned from their portfolios for the sake of the country.

“All Muslim ministers resigned together. If we accept the portfolios again, we will do it together. We did not resign in fear of Ven. Rathana Thera but for the sake of the country. The Muslim community is not responsible for what Zahran did,” he said.

He said leaders of the Muslim parties were given the authority to decide whether to accept the portfolios at a meeting held recently and added that they were yet to decide on accepting the portfolios.

Take it easy man. A 15 string Cabinet is more that enough for small country like Sri Lanka. Too many cooks spoil the soup.

Well said Rishard - please impress on your other colleagues not to do so as well. After all when some places of worship was repaired in double quick time, the govt is dragging its feet on the numerous mosques yet in ruins. Shame on Ranil and also shame on you all for being silent.

Why won't all Tamil parties too join hands and act the same way the Muslim parties did. This would be the show of strength of the minorities and those who oppose Nationalistic Sinhala Buddhist ideology.

Professionals do not resign on a whim, and then turn up for duty when they feel like it. How many other professional bodies would tolerate this sort of behaviour?
