New laws including legislation to control hate speech is essential to prevent the emergence of new terrorist groups in the future, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said this at a ceremony held in Ampara to distribute Samurdi relief to new recipients.
“ISIS and National Thiwheed Jamath (NTJ) no longer exist in Sri Lanka anymore. However, new groups could always come up again. Therefore the country needs new laws such as legislation to control hate speech, bio metric laws and laws to monitor and control those who enter Sri Lankan territory. New counter terrorism laws are needed to stop emergence of new terrorist groups” the Prime Minister said. (Yohan Perera in Ampara)

This silly PM is only promoting terrorism and inviting terror groups for more attacks by repeatedly chanting "No laws" in Sri Lanka. If his claims are correct how did the 30 year old terror war was dealt with the existing laws. His main objective is to get Counter Terrorism Act passed for his own political advantage.. such a cheap brain..

How can RW be so sure that these terrorist groups and supporters "no longer exist"? Tri-forces are still making arrests and discoveries....

Its the islamic terror groups that need to be hounded out and destroyed, as they are responsible for mass murder all over the world. On never hear of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, or Atheists committing mass murder? Its always the so-called 'religion of peace' anything but PEACE. more like pieces.

“ISIS and National Thiwheed Jamath (NTJ) no longer exist in Sri Lanka anymore. " This is just wishful thinking there are enough radicalized fools who will emerge from the rubble to go find there 72 virgins in Paradise. Dont be fooled there must be many other cells waiting for the opportune time to strike, cut the head is not enough but get the whole body too, in other words, arrest and hang every member of this evil group.

You and your laws! Why bring in new laws when you failed so miserably to implement the laws that were existing until many innocent people, including children had to pay with their lives while you were enjoying the perks of your office and doing nothing else? Sri Lanka will never forget this.

Commencing to ban all racist organizations whose members hold hate speeches and stir up unrest in the country such as JHU, Bala Bodu Sena, Ravana Balaya, Sihala Ravaya and Sihalaye Api.
