A stock of beedi leaves found floating in the sea were recovered today by crew members of a SL Navy fast attack craft and a coastal patrol vessel during a patrol carried out in the seas of Mannar South.
The Navy said the beedi leaves weighed 1456.1 kilograms and was in 33 packages. The beedi leaves are to be handed over to the Jaffna Customs Office for further investigation.
On March 26 the Navy recovered a haul 1232.5 kilograms of beedi leaves found floating in sea off the Udappuwa Coast.
