Kusal Mendis released on bail

Cricketer Kusal Mendis, who was arrested over a fatal accident, was released on bail by Panadura magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya today.

He was released on two sureties of one million rupees each by the magistrate.

His driving license has also been temporarily suspended.

Lawyers appeared for the cricketer promised in court to offer one million as compensation to the victim and Rs. 200,000 of the amount was paid today.

He was arrested following an accident that killed a 64-year-old man at Horethuduwa in Panadura.

A county with multiple laws. Death by a road accident is a murder charge from what I know. He should be in remand. Driving on the wrong side, knocking a cyclist down and driving off.

Did cricket board interfere to get him bail. How much a mans life is worth in Sri Lanka. His lawyer offered RS 1 million to mans family to accept an out of court settlement. This is why Sri Lanka is not Singapore. Money talk and criminals go unpunished.
