UN Human Rights Council said former LTTE commander and Government minister Karuna Amman should also be investigated for wholesale recruitment of child soldiers, a crime under international law.

In a twitter post, it said that accountability should apply to everyone in Sri Lanka.

"We note that #Karuna, former LTTE commander & Government minister, is being questioned for alleged past crimes. He should also be investigated for wholesale recruitment of child soldiers, a crime under int'l law. Accountability should apply to everyone in Sri Lanka," the UNHRC tweeted.

UNHRC should be investigated for assisting terrorists.

Brilliant. The smart man is getting it back. That's called karma in a way....

If prebakaran is live, UNHRC would not play this card. UNHRC is so corrupt organisation worse than our police, customs, medical regulatory authority and politicians.

Send Karuna and all war-criminal generals to The Hague. Then there will finally be peace in the country.

    Ari Friday, 26 June 2020 05:34 PM

How come the UNHCR does not voice concern over all the other LTTE members and their supporters who are still against the State but only going after those who are supportive of reconciliation and living together as one country.

UNHCR are the biggest criminals, and their prosecution processes are biased and pivoting in one direction only. Sure, Karuna must be put behind jail for crimes he committed no argument there. What about the child soldiers and the killings done by LTTE? Oh yes, but LTTE is not in existence but the shadow group of Tamil diaspora that financed the killings and bombing in Srilanka still lives in luxurious life styles sleeping with the sleazy politicians of the western world. These crooks of UNHCR will not dare to go after them because there bread

UNHR must take action against Amman. Do that as early as possible. This government will drop the case.

    ShaneGun Friday, 26 June 2020 06:38 PM

Wonder what the UNHTC was doing back then when Karuna was actively recruiting child soldiers?

Robin Jayasekera Friday, 26 June 2020 06:54 PM

How come Prabhakaran or anyone in then LTTE was indicted by this so called UNHRC, for recruiting and engaging child soldiers at the battle front? What a pathetic political game. Karuna committed a massive crime and question about it. But MR government pardoned him and forced him to main stream politics. This pardon was no different to Plea Bargains happening in US. You promise freedom to one criminal to catch another. Since the whole world knew Karuna's affair, why all this nice now? I think it is best that Karuna keep his stupid mouth shut and help the reconciliation rather than trying to portray himself as a hero.

    Joshua Friday, 26 June 2020 08:19 PM

Law should apply to all. How come LTTE terrorists are behind bars when the biggest fish is loose? It is because he is supporting SLPP ???

    Aruna Friday, 26 June 2020 10:34 PM

Adele Balasingham lives in England freely as if she did not have anything regarding recruitment of child solders in Sri Lanka

    RMA Sunday, 28 June 2020 08:47 AM

UNHR and UN ignored many war criminals while prosecuting selected. Can it name at least a one Sri Lankan war criminal was prosecuted? If the answer is no, then this statement is nothing but just a statement.

    raj Sunday, 28 June 2020 08:50 AM

If the government ever hand in over Karuna to War Crime Tribunal, he will reveal details about war crime that took place in Sri Lanka during the war. It is the only reason that he will never be investigated by the government

    Anton Sunday, 28 June 2020 10:06 AM

Why didn't you ask for investigation of the 'white vans' ?? How are you so selective ?
