One girl was killed and another went missing after they were caught in floods in the Agarapathana police area this afternoon, police said.
They said the girls, aged 10 and 11 and belonging to the same family, had been crossing an inundated by-road which was leading to Torrington Estate when they met with the tragedy.
The residents had found one girl and she was pronounced dead on admission to the Agarapathana Divisional Hospital. Police and residents were engaged in rescue operations to trace the missing girl.
