Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Lakshman Gamlath said yesterday health guidelines to conduct parliamentary sessions in a safe environment were being prepared and would be submitted to Parliament Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake next Friday.
He said these guidelines were being prepared by the Ministry of Health at the request of the Secretary-General of Parliament.
Dr. Gamlath said special attention would be paid to the chamber, cafeteria and the library when preparing the healthcare guidelines.
A group of health officials headed by the Deputy Director-General visited Parliament last week to check on the measures to be taken complying with health guidelines post general elections and expressed their satisfaction over the healthcare measures already taken by Parliament.
A mechanism will be in place to protect the dignitaries including the Members of Parliament who will be attending parliamentary sittings, the parliament staff and the security forces from the COVID-19 virus. (Ajith Siriwardana)
