Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday assured that the annual Esala Perahara will be held on a grand scale this year.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said in a special statement that he will have a dialogue with Venerable Mahanayaka Theras of Malwathu, Asgiriya chapters and Diyawadana Nilame on the matter.
The Prime Minister said in a special statement that it was possible for Poson was held on a grand scale this year compared to past years. He said Poson was held on a grand scale in the areas which it is not held in large scale usually. The Prime Minister said both principles Amisa and Prathipathi Poojas were followed in commemorating Poson this year.
He thanked the Maha Sangha, ministers, security personnel, police and others who helped in holding Poson on a grand scale this year.

Wesak and Poson was too close after Easter Sunday. Esala is quite far from these events and gives enough time for anyone to recoup for another spectacular attack so don't speak too soon. There are elephants too to consider.
