Colombo Fort Magistrate today rejected the request made by Counsels appearing for Attorney-at-Law Hijaaz Hizbullah, who is currently under detention, to be produced in Courts.
Earlier, Wasantha Nawaratne Bandara PC appearing for Attorney-at-Law Hijaaz Hizbullah requested the Court to make an order to produce his client before Courts.
Accordingly, the Magistrate said that the order regarding the producing of Attorney-at-Law Hijaaz Hizbullah, to Courts will be delivered on July 01.(Yoshitha Perera)

It is a shame for the legal system in Sri Lanka to keep Hizbullah under detention. Hopefully, this is not an indication that the judiciary is losing its independence and turning to the dictatorial military regime.
