Postal voters who were unable to cast their votes on the allocated dates were granted special dates on July 24 and 25 at the respective district election offices to cast their postal votes, the Elections Commission (EC) announced today.
The EC said, postal voters could exercise their postal votes at the district election offices between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Friday (24) and between 8.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on Saturday (25).
Eligible voters were required to produce an acceptable document to prove their identity at the polling station.
The elections commission had earlier allocated July 20 and 21 for those who failed to show up on the allocated days to cast their postal votes at the District Secretariat.(Ajith Siriwardana)
