Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today requested MPs to desist from making irresponsible statements and passing false information to the media.
“The false stories published in the media during the past 26 days have had an adverse effect on the country. Several measures had been taken to ensure security in the country after the bombings on Easter Sunday. Steps have also been taken to ensure the security of the MPs. Various reports have been published on the arrest of a Parliament employee,” the Speaker said.
