British billionaire Sir Richard Branson has requested Sri Lanka to maintain its commitment on the moratorium on death penalty.
A government spokesman said that Sir Branson made this request in a letter to the government yesterday.
Meanwhile in a twitter massage, he said that the execution can be devastating and are never the solution.
“Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena wants to bring back the death penalty in Sri Lanka. I hope he takes a cue from the Maldives president and decides otherwise. Executions can be devastating and are never the solution. The wonderful people of Sri Lanka deserve better than this,” Sir Branson tweeted.

Why don't you tell it to the 31 states out of 50 states in USA, a so called highly civilized country, still have the death penalty?

The death penalty is not the solution. It's true. First, stop the crime done by big fish. It will stop sprats from getting caught. No one earth has the power of human life.

Justice is the foundation for the death penalty, as with all sanctions. If by "solution" you are seeking a just, proportional and appropriate sanction for our worst crimes, the death penalty is an option.
