A Colombo Court today ordered Minister Ravi Karunanayake to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and provide a full statement over the alleged false evidence given before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Central Bank bond scam.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna ordered that the minister should appear before the CID within seven days of receipt of this order and cooperate with the investigations. The Magistrate ordered the CID to hand over this order to Minister Ravi Karunanayake immediately.
The court made this order because Mr. Karunanayake appeared before the CID on August 31 and had given a part of his statement but the balance statement has not been given by him despite several orders. (Nimanthi Ranasinghe)

Justice delayed is justice denied. Only in Sri Lanka can great bank robbers roam scot-free.
