Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today directed Minister Ravi Karunanayake to report to the CID within the next two weeks to provide further statements regarding the inquiry being conducted in connection with the giving of false evidence at the Bond Commission on August 2, 2015.
The Court also directed the prosecution to inform the minister about the court order.
The Attorney General’s Department informed Court that the minister had reported to the CID on July 7, 2019, to record his statements.
However, the CID had not been able to record the minister’s statement in its entirety and thus requested the minister to report to the CID again so as to complete the recordings, but the minister had failed to do and as such the prosecution is finding it difficult to conclude the investigations.
The case has been fixed for November 21. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
