Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and four others who went on pilgrimage to Sri Pada without a curfew pass were arrested in Maskeliya today.
They were travelling by a lorry belonging to the Pradeshiya Sabha when the police arrested them.
Police said the health authorities had prohibited pilgrimage to sacred cities in view of the threat of Corona virus while Nallathanniya police had taken step to prevent tourists and pilgrims from trips to Sri Pada until the situation was back to normal. (Ranjith Rajapakse)

Misappropriation of public funds by using government vehicle for private tour under cover of public service,traveling among districts when it is prohibited and without a curfew pass ,this gang may be pohottuwa supporters but public expecting to maintain law and order of the country ,these must be punished
