Health authorities have launched an operation to identify the contacts of the woman, who tested positive for the virus from Marawila and send them to quarantine process.
The Epidemiology Unit reported 2,153 Covid-19 cases from Sri Lanka upto 6 pm today.
Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera told the Daily Mirror that health authorities expected such kind of cases and added that was why they carried out random PCR tests consistently from the society.

At least now government should open field hospitals with 100s of beds. Everyone with COVID need to be isolated but only few need to be hospitalized. We need more capacity to isolate people with COVID than hospital beds available. We also need more quarantine centers. We cannot keep people locked out of the country in the middle east any longer. Number of deaths of migrant workers is twice that of COVID deaths in Sri Lanka.

From where did the first infected person get the virus? The authorities were saying there was no virus in the community.
