A group of 12 youths who were about to leave for a boat ride from the Mirissa Harbour were arrested over the possession of various narcotics on Saturday, police said.
They said nine males and three females were among the group and they recovered narcotics drugs such as Ice, Hashish, Kerala Cannabis and several drug pills from the suspects’ possession.
Police said the suspects aged between 20 and 26 were identified as residents of Galle, Kurunegala, Homagama, Moratuwa, Ganemulla, Makola, Kelanimulla, Ratmalana, Wattala, Matara and Weligama.
They were handed over to the Matara Police to be produced in the Matara Magistrate’s Court.(DSB)
