Security forces yesterday found a 25-acre land at Omniyamadu, Ridithenna, Batticaloa where National Thawheed Jamath Leader Zahran Hashim had made plans to establish a training centre.
The land which is situated in the Valaichchenai Police Division in Batticaloa was found following information received from one of the suspects arrested over the killing of two police personnel at Vavunathivu.
Police arrested a suspect called Cassim who owned the land, and found 236 gelignite sticks and a can of acid buried in the land.
The land which is under the Mahaweli Authority had been obtained by the owner on a lease basis. The arrested suspects have said that there were plans to build underground bunkers in the land.
There is one building in the land along with a stock of building material including sans and pillars.
