The CID team investigating the weapon haul in Pitipana, has yesterday recovered more weapons including four hand grenades at a house in Kendalanda, Homagama.
Police said the CID arrested a 38-yearold suspect with a T-56 assault rifle from Athurugiriya on Wednesday night following the interrogation of suspects arrested with firearms at Pitipana in Homagama early this week.
The STF on Monday recovered eleven T-56 rifles and a T-81 riffle from a building in Pitipana, Homagama. Two suspects including the building owner, who were accomplices of underworld figures Kosgoda Tharaka and Gagana were arrested along with the weapon haul. Police on Wednesday arrested a woman with seven hand grenades, two body armours, a shotgun and several rounds of ammunition from a house in Homagama following the questioning of the two suspects. The three suspects including the woman were handed over to the CID for further investigations.
