WHO declares coronavirus a pandemic

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic.

“The outbreak is the first pandemic caused by a coronavirus. Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO’s assessment of the threat posed by COVID-19. It doesn’t change what WHO is doing and what countries should do,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said yesterday.
