A series of religious observances will be carried out today at the Gangarama temple in Hunupitiya, to mark the 76th birthday of the Gangarama Temple’s Chief Incumbent and Chief Sanghanayake of the Colombo Nava Korale, the Ven. Galboda Gnanissara Thera (Podi Hamuduruvo).
The programme will include an alms giving and donation of school requisites, rust proof bowls, Pirith books, and financial aid for studies to 250 novice monks from Anuradhapura and Nuwara Eliya. The novice monks will chant Pirith and later visit the Colombo planetarium and several places of importance in the city.
Another religious programme will be held at 10.30 am today at the Golden Pagoda temple at Tampanis Road with the participation of all Sri Lankan Buddhist monks from Singapore to invoke blessings on Ven. Gnanissara Thera.
The serious of religious activities will be held under the guidance of Viharadhikari Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera.
