Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga, was yesterday remanded till February 17 by Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.
He was arrested on charges of financial fraud which is said to have taken place when procuring seven MiG-27 ground attack aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).
Mr. Weeratunga returned to Sri Lanka last morning and arrested by the CID at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
He arrived at the BIA at 4.37 am from Muscat International Airport.
