UNP will expel more members who had joined Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) from the party by Friday, July 31, its Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake said yesterday.
Responding to a question raised by the journalists to this effect at a press conference, Mr. Karunanayake said expelling of some members had to be delayed as some who joined SJB have requested for a change of decision while some will rejoin. “We did not expel everyone at the same time as some have requested not to take action against them while there are others who want to rejoin the party. There are some who have already joined us,” Mr. Karunanayake said.
“Architects of SJB should not be taken back and should be expelled,” he added.
Asked whether action will be taken against Colombo Mayoress Rosy Senanayake, Mr. Karunanayake said action will be taken against everyone who have breached discipline. “We have not decided on Ms. Senanayake yet but have called for her explanation,” he said in this regard.
