The United National Party (UNP) yesterday suspended the membership of 37 Pradeshiya Sabha members and has initiated disciplinary inquiries against them.
UNP Legal Secretary Nisanka Nanayakakra told Daily Mirror their party membership was suspended in connection with allegations that they were working in support of other parties . “They will be expelled if found guilty,” he said. The UNP has already expelled more than 100 members including 54 candidates contesting on the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) ticket.
