It is better for the UNP to negotiate with President Maithripala Sirisena rather than going aggressive and trying to defeat his expenditure head, State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said yesterday.
Mr. Ramanayake was referring to the suggestion made by UNP MP Mujibur Rahaman that the party should not help pass the president’s expenditure head in the budget debate.
“ I am still of the opinion that UNP should not help president by seeing that his expenditure head is passed in the budget 2019. We don’t get any benefit from such an exercise,” he said.
Mr. Ramanayake who responded to it said the party should not go aggressive but should negotiate with the President and resolve
whatever issues.
“ President helped us to capture power in 2015 and I am still grateful to the President for that,” he added.
