The United National Party (UNP) yesterday urged the Elections Commission to take action preventing the ruling party from using the media for its election propaganda.
UNP Secretary (Legal Affairs) Nissanka Nanayakkara in a letter has urged the Elections Commission Chairman to take action to stop the ruling party from using the media for its propaganda.
“Co -cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardane recently used the live telecast of the cabinet briefing to insult the UNP and the opposition as a whole. However we did not have any issue with Co-cabinet spokesman Ramesh Pathirana. It is not fair for anyone to play politics at a time when the country and the whole world is facing a pandemic situation. Therefore, we urge you to take action to prevent the ruling party from using the COVID-19 situation for its propaganda,” Mr Nanayakara said in the letter.
