Two accomplices of underworld figures ‘Kosgoda Tharaka’ and ‘Gagana’ have been arrested with 12 T-56 assault rifles during a raid carried out by the STF Organised Crimes Unit yesterday. The STF said the weapons were seized at a four-storeyed building at Pitipana in Homagama yesterday.
The weapons were recovered following a tip-off by a suspect arrested recently in Meegoda.
Police suspects those weapons might have been used for various crimes led by underworld figures ‘Kosgoda Tharaka’ and ‘Gagana’ who are currently in prison.
The suspects were to be handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division for further investigations.
