Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday suspended the overseas travel approval given to Perpetual Treasuries Pvt. Ltd. (PTL) Chairman Geoffrey Joseph Aloysius, following objections raised by the Attorney General.
Representing the AG’s department, Senior State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama informed the Chief Magistrate that her department is to file indictment at the Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar against Geoffrey Aloysius and several others over the Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam during next two weeks and as such permission for overseas travel must be revoked.
Earlier, Court permitted Geoffrey Aloysius to travel to Singapore from July 1 to 11 in order to attend the wedding of his daughter.
The next hearing was put off for June 28.
