The government has reportedly suspended repatriating Sri Lankans stranded in the Middle East until the general election is over, said Dr. Harsha de Silva, Colombo District candidate of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
Addressing a news briefing, he requested the government to repatriate all stranded Sri Lankans in the Middle East without further delay. “The government thinks repatriation would hamper election campaigns and become a disadvantage as more COVID-19 cases could be reported,” he said.
